PLAIN CITY, OHIO, USA — In a move to extend service to more Canadian dairy and beef producers, Select Sires, Inc. has substantially committed itself to the market with the formation of Select Sires Canada, Inc. The first step in fulfilling that commitment was the purchase of its eastern Canadian distributor, TransCanada Select Sires, Inc. based in Iroquois, Ontario.

"For 20 years Mark Comfort's TransCanada Select Sires organization has been offering our elite genetics in the Canadian marketplace," comments Bill Thompson, Select's Vice President of Marketing and Development and General Manager of Select Sires Canada, Inc. "Now we are taking the strong sales team already in place there and adding more product and service to it. We are bringing the best of Select Sires to Canada."

As part of its commitment to Canada, Select Sires has established the PGAC (Program of Genetic Advancement Canada) as its young sire sampling system. Select's USA based sampling program, known as the PGA, has consistently set the pace for the A.I. industry. Graduates of the PGA read like a who's who of dairy cattle breeding with Elevation, Mars Tony, Bell, Mark, Blackstar, Highlight, Mathie, Emory, Jolt, Integrity, Fred and Durham being prominent on the list.

Consistent with Select's complete cow philosophy, they are expanding the availability of their Select Mating Service (SMS), the world's most heavily used mating program. SMS pairs professional genetic consultants with up-to-date genetic information to produce corrective matings tailored to each producer's own breeding goals and objectives. The SMS system has the capability of translating Canadian Holstein classification data into a usable format for the program.

Select has moved forward with implementation of professional A.I. technician service to reach more cows and producers. That trend will continue in areas where placing a technician is feasible.
