![]() Select Sires Canada News Tri-Day Ashlyn Reigns Supreme at Royal Winter Fair Fresh off her "supreme" win at World Dairy Expo, Marcrest ENCORE daughter Tri-Day Ashlyn, owned by Ernest Kueffner and Oseeana Holsteins, Boonsboro, MD, was named Supreme Champion at the Royal Winter Fair, held in Toronto. Kenneth Empey, Dorchester, Ontario, sorted through the classes on Friday, November 9 and consistently selected powerful, up-hill front-ended animals to lead his classes. With her massive size and chiseled frame, Ashlyn easily took first prize in the four-year-old class and was later selected for Grand Champion Holstein honors over her stable-mate Ernest-Anthony SD Tobi, the winning five-year-old and Reserve Champion. Ashlyn joins a select handful of cows that have won Grand Champion Holstein honors in the same year at both of North America’s premier dairy cattle shows. Ashlyn is the dam of Select Sires’ own 7HO7051 Oseeana ACE, a very fancy, correct 7HO4213 Robthom INTEGRITY son. ACE is now available in Canada - ask your rep!
In the Junior Yearling class, ENCORE daughter Rinehart ENCORE Veena continued her winning ways and topped the class. Another perennial favorite, Budjon-JK ENCORE Electra, was sixth place in the Senior Three-Year-Old class, while her full sisters Budjon-JK ENCORE Express and Budjon-JK Encore Elisha were the fourth Senior Two-Year-Old and seventh Senior Heifer Calf, respectively. He debuted in Canada with a +14 for Conformation following the November sire summary, and now at the Royal 7HO4246 Roselund-View Black STAR BOY sired the first place Intermediate Heifer Calf. A late January calf, Bigmaple STARBOY Black Nina, owned by Dunphy’s Holsteins, Keswick, NB, beat out the larger calves on her ultra-stylish, correct frame, straight lines, and beautifully sculpted features. This fancy heifer won her class earlier at this year’s Royal in the Scotia Hays Classic event.
Walnut-Acres JOLT Pandora, hot off her Reserve Champion laurels at World Dairy Expo, had to settle for third place in the heated battle that was the Five-Year-Old class. This stylish, beautifully-uddered JOLT daughter lacked the uphill run and overall width that the judge admired in his first two five-year-olds. Another well-balanced 7HO4164 Second-Look JOLT daughter, Roylane Jolt Delilah, just missed a top ten finish in the Senior Three-Year-Old class. Holstein Sires With Canadian Proof
